A natural history article by Elizabeth Fairweather

We have had blobs of frogspawn in the pond since the end of February, when at least one adult frog was spotted there.

As the mornings grow lighter, we are treated to the birds singing.  Starlings, greenfinches and wood pigeons have been seen collecting material for their nests.

We believe we are being visited by the same Mallard pair which first discovered our garden last year.  They arrived at the beginning o...

Planning for Sandringham!

Posted by Stephen Fairweather on Saturday, June 18, 2011 In : KLHS May 2011
A subcommittee is continuing to plan the KLHS’s entry to the Sandringham Flower Show this July.

We are once more entering the competition to design and build a 5ft by 5ft garden, this year based on the theme of “Nursery Rhymes”.

Posted by Stephen Fairweather on Saturday, June 18, 2011 In : KLHS May 2011

Members vs. non-members: join the debate!

Posted by Stephen Fairweather on Saturday, June 18, 2011 In : KLHS May 2011

Should everyone pay the same at talks?

We welcome you to May’s newsletter with an invitation to give your input to an issue raised at last month’s AGM.

It was suggested that it was unfair to charge members and non-members the same admission price to attend our evening talks, and that members should pay less as a benefit of membership.

The Committee had discussed this recently, and felt that to set a higher admission for non-members might deter potential new members from ...
