A natural
history article by Elizabeth Fairweather
We
have had blobs of frogspawn in the pond since the end of February, when at
least one adult frog was spotted there. As the mornings grow lighter, we are
treated to the birds singing. Starlings,
greenfinches and wood pigeons have been seen collecting material for their
nests.
We believe we are being visited by
the same Mallard pair which first discovered our garden last year. They arrived at the beginning o... Continue reading...

A subcommittee is continuing to plan the KLHS’s
entry to the Sandringham Flower Show this July.
We are
once more entering the competition to design and build a 5ft by 5ft garden,
this year based on the theme of “Nursery Rhymes”. We’ve

If you have any items which could be
used to represent different nursery rhymes, or you would like to help in any

Our membership cards were printed when
we still charged an entry fee to look around the show; admission is free now so
cards no longer need to be shown– but don’t throw them away because you can

Should
everyone pay the same at talks? We welcome you to May’s newsletter
with an invitation to give your input to an issue raised at last month’s AGM.
It was suggested that it was unfair to
charge members and non-members the same admission price to attend our evening
talks, and that members should pay less as a benefit of membership.
The Committee had discussed this
recently, and felt that to set a higher admission for non-members might deter
potential new members from ... Continue reading...

Completely
redesigned and improved webpage on its way! There’s no “Webchat” from our Web Manager Stephen
Fairweather in this edition, as he is busy putting the final touches to a brand
new, much improved website for the Society, which should be online shortly!
